Who we are

The Maman Foundation was founded by Behbod (Ben) Naghshineh in loving memory of his grandmother, Nahid “Nana” Farahanci, a woman whose kindness, compassion, and strength touched everyone around her. Nana lived a life rooted in love, always putting others first, always smiling through challenges, and always reminding those around her of the importance of empathy and family.

After losing Nana to cancer, Ben felt an immense sense of loss and regret for not being by her side during her illness. That pain became the spark for purpose. The Maman Foundation was created to carry forward Nana’s values, to transform grief into action, and to help others facing the same fight.

The name “Maman,” meaning “mother” in Persian, reflects the nurturing spirit at the heart of everything we do. Through compassion, awareness, and community-driven fundraising, we work to support global cancer research, raise awareness for cancer prevention and treatment, and provide hope to families affected by cancer.

Our annual For Nana Fundraiser, held from October 27 to November 27, unites people from all walks of life to honor loved ones, share their stories, and contribute to the ongoing fight against cancer. It is more than a fundraiser; it is a movement built on kindness, remembrance, and hope.

At The Maman Foundation, we believe that even the smallest acts of love can create ripples of change. Every donation, every share, and every story helps us carry forward Nana’s legacy, building a world where fewer families have to lose the people they love to cancer.

💛 For Nana. For all of us.
